About Child First Policy Center
We’re parents first.
Like many families, we’re raising children in a world where technology moved faster than the research, the safeguards, and the laws meant to protect kids. Screens became part of childhood long before we fully understood the impact on learning, development, and wellbeing.
Child First Policy Center exists because too often, protections come after harm has already happened. We believe children deserve better than that.
Why We Do This Work
As parents, we kept asking the same questions:
Why are kids treated like test cases for new technology?
Why does policy lag behind what families are seeing every day?
Why isn’t children’s wellbeing the starting point?
We’re not anti-technology. We’re pro-child.
What We Do
We work to understand how technology shapes children’s lives — and to advocate for child-first laws and policies that protect kids before harm happens, not after.
That means:
Translating research into language parents can actually use
Bringing child development expertise into policy conversations
Advocating for proactive, child-centered digital protections through local, state, and national policy.
Our Belief
When it comes to children, “we’ll fix it later” isn’t good enough.
Children need stronger protections than adults. Development matters. Timing matters. And parents deserve a seat at the table — not an explanation after the fact.
We believe children deserve digital environments designed with their best interests in mind — not as an experiment, but as a responsibility.
